New Zealand Red Cross is an organisation with over 10,000 voluntary members and 450 staff who plays a vital role in providing assistance to vulnerable people in New Zealand and overseas whose lives have become vulnerable through conflict, disaster or circumstance.

We are seeking a dynamic Humanitarian Services Coordinator to join our team based in Palmerston North. In this role you will coordinate Red Cross programmes delivered across the region and develop new programmes alongside small teams of members and volunteers. Your strong relationship building skills will enable you to develop meaningful relationships with external organisations creating opportunities for humanitarian activity. You will develop successful fundraising plans for local, national and international Red Cross programmes in the Mid-Central region whilst raising the profile of New Zealand Red Cross.

• A qualification in Community Development or relevant, similar field
• A successful track record in NGO humanitarian service delivery or similar environments
• Good relationship, trust building and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage and support staff and volunteers alike
• Understanding of community development and empowerment
• Ability to manage risk especially in Health & Safety.
• Ability to create warm, positive relationships with people from a variety of cultures, religious backgrounds, and socio-economic positions
• Empathy with humanitarian causes and a personal value-base consistent with Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles.
